LA River Boat Race 2017

This unique urban kayaking experience in the heart of Los Angeles should be on any self-respecting Angelenos’ bucket list. For beginners and experienced kayakers alike, this is your year to participate — don’t miss out!

This year’s race is September 9th. For the absolute most up-to-date information, see our official Boat Race site

Kayak, canoe or paddleboard your way down one of several race course options. Shoot the rapids, slalom around the buoys and sprint to the finish in the fun, recreational sprint kayak race. Or for added sporty adventure, do the longer, more grueling downriver event. Or perhaps grab some friends, dress up and join as a multi-sport team. Lots of possibilities — there’s something for everyone, including youth.

The course tests contestants in speed, strength, endurance and water craft control. The LA River Boat Race course cuts through the Recreational Zone in lovely Elysian Valley, in the Frogtown neighborhood, one of the greenest sections of the river.

Space is limited, so don’t wait.

It’s not too early to express your interest to participate and paddle the LA River in a kayak. Get on our Participant Interest List to receive the most timely info as soon as that becomes available.

If you’re interested in being a Sponsor to expand your brand recognition in downtown LA with this type of outdoors activity, express your particular Sponsor Interest here.

To get other timely information, be sure to like our Boat Race Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you out there this year!
